Electrolysis is the only method recognized by the FDA for permanent hair removal. It destroys the hair follicle so that the hair cannot grow back.

Laser hair removal, by comparison, is typically classified as permanent hair reduction, meaning some hair often returns over time.

• Electrolysis works on all hair colors, including: blonde, red, grey, white, light or fine hairs. Laser relies on pigment in the hair, so lighter hairs often cannot be treated effectively with laser.

• Electrolysis can safely treat all skin tones, from fair to very deep skin. Laser treatments may require adjustments depending on skin tone and can carry a higher risk of pigmentation changes in some cases.

• Electrolysis treats one follicle at a time, allowing for extremely precise work. Laser cannot selectively target individual hairs.

• Electrolysis is often the best option for hair caused by:

  • Hormonal changes - including areas of the body like genitals when preparing for gender affirming surgery

  • PCOS

  • Menopause
